In response to COVID-19 and in an effort to unify leaders around the world, MOVEMENT.ORG has accelerated its efforts to bring leaders together to collaborate, share best practices, and to pray for the people of our cities. In early April of 2020 we had our first Global Leader call; the result was inspiring, encouraging, humbling, and stirring. If you are a leader in your city and want to be connected with leaders from around the world then join us for our next Global Monthly Zoom.

"When the soil of [your city] has been turned upside down, there is a window of opportunity to plant seeds.” City leaders from around the world know first-hand how rapidly the changes and upheaval are happening in this season, so it is encouraging to hear how God is using these opportunities to accelerate city movements toward spiritual and social flourishing. Still, there are challenges. In the latest Global City Leaders Zoom call hosted by MOVEMENT.ORG on 8/19/20, several themes emerged in the reports from Hong Kong, Australia and Latin America – Finding unity in our diversity; Political unrest; Isolation and loneliness. Prayers were lifted up from Albania, Singapore, Brazil and South Africa while we prayed as one church, together, in a global prayer for healing, hope, and the creativity of Heaven.

When you add together 5 continents, 31 countries, 109 minutes and 328 participants, what does it equal? One Church.

One Church, comprised of believers from all over the world gathering online to worship the Lord in unison, ask for His mercy and guidance, and learn about real time challenges in city streets far from our own. In a Zoom call on 6/24/20, MOVEMENT.ORG hosted the second in a series of Global City Leaders virtual gatherings. Speakers from India, Ghana, Singapore, the USA, the UK and more shared stories of the turmoil and suffering caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, the racial justice movement and the world’s economy. We were blessed to lift each other up in prayer and celebrate the ways God is moving in and through His people.

A global crisis calls for a global response. As the Coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt life as we know it around the world, we can see the immediate effects on our healthcare systems, our economies and our families. But there are deeper dangers that we cannot see as readily. In cases where the damage may not be as obvious, the truth is that existing inequalities threaten to further the divide between neighbors across cities and nations. In this first-ever Global City Leaders Call, more than 500 leaders representing 100+ nations on 6 continents convene to accelerate the Gospel in cities as we together address the global pandemic.
